Our Story
Operating since 1960
The Ghalloub Family have been involved with watermelons & pumpkins since 1960, and was originally operated by the late Ray Ghalloub at Sydney’s Produce Market Haymarket before moving to Sydney Markets Flemington.
Sons Joe Ghalloub and Robert Ghalloub (brothers), Owners and Directors, have been involved in the business and each have over 30 years industry experience with all types of seedless and seeded watermelon, rockmelons and pumpkin varieties.
In 2007 the decision was made to become a grower, and they purchased land in Katherine NT now known as Red Dirt Melons (Aust) Pty Ltd.
The farm comprises of over 800 hectares, and is considered one of Australia’s largest single melon producer.

Growth
The Family Business
In 2014, they continued to expand the business further with the introduction of Pumpkin in Katherine NT.
Ray K Ghalloub and Sons Pty Ltd is supported by related company Red Dirt Melons (Aust) Pty Ltd, who operates the farm in Katherine NT.
They have the ability and necessary expertise in growing and handling their produce lines and this is supported by their Grower/Manager, who has over 20 years experience and a dedicated team of employees who have been with them since inception.
Their knowledge of the fruit ensures that any fruit provided is to be within specifications.
With a number of growing facilities this allows them to provide the necessary support from their network in providing the service of fruit all year round with confidence.

Red Dirt Melons (Aust) Pty Ltd are credited by Global G.A.P, HARPS and GRASP systems.
