OUR HISTORY

Family-Owned Business

The Ghalloub Family have been involved with watermelons & pumpkins since 1960, and originally operated by the late Ray Ghalloub at Sydney’s Produce Market Haymarket before moving to Sydney Markets Flemington.

Sons Joe Ghalloub and Robert Ghalloub (brothers), Owners and Directors, have been involved in the business and each have over 40 years industry experience with all types of seedless watermelon and pumpkin varieties.

In 2007, land was purchased in Katherine NT directing the group in becoming a grower now known as Red Dirt Melons (Aust) Pty Ltd.

The farm comprises over 1,074 hectares of which 400 hectares are used at any one time during our growing season. We are considered one of Australia’s largest single melon producer.
